Meet Laura Baker, LPC
Hi, I’m Laura (she/her) — a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder of Emberlight Counseling.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Boise State University and my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Idaho State University. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and person-centered. I draw from mindfulness practices, DBT-informed skills, and cognitive-behavioral strategies, while creating space for deeper emotional exploration and identity work.
I work primarily with adults navigating anxiety, self-worth challenges, life transitions, and relationship patterns. I know what it’s like to move through seasons of uncertainty and self-doubt — my own journey through those experiences is what brought me to this work. Because of that, I show up with realness, empathy, and a deep respect for the courage it takes to be vulnerable.
Clients often describe me as intuitive, nonjudgmental, and gently encouraging. I believe healing happens in the context of a safe, supportive relationship — and that even small sparks of self-trust can ignite powerful transformation.
Therapy doesn’t have to be stiff or overly serious to be meaningful. I’m here to hold space for all of you — the messy, the beautiful, the becoming.
Regarding Services for Minors
Due to House Bill 822, I am unable to provide therapy to minors at this time. The law’s liability risks and restrictions directly conflict with my ethical duty to protect confidentiality and provide sound care. This reflects a commitment to ethical practice - not a lack of care for young people. To advocate, contact legislators or support the Idaho Counseling Association and American Counseling Association.
